Berley

Everybody has their own thoughts on using or making berley and we all know that none of them are perfect.

One thing that we do know is that the ingredients (such as Fish or Tuna Oil) can be expensive.

One of our tricks is to obtain used cooking oil from take away food shops and then add other ingredients to the oil. This reduces the overall cost.

Take 15 litres of used oil with between 1 and 2 litres of Fish or Tuna oil and a few drops of Aniseed oil. Take it easy on the aniseed.

If you really want to get creative, you can mash anchovy fillets and add them and the oil from the container into your mix.

This mix can then be used directly or mixed with Pollard or other ingredients to form a solid berley to attract in the bait fish, which should hopefully attract the bigger predators that we are targeting.

Try dipping your lures or bait into an oil mix before casting them out, it really works!

As you can see from the photo, we like to mix ours in bulk.
